Entrepreneurship and innovation are hard. Really hard. So many of the best practices and learnings - from how to build a thriving startup ecosystem to raising money and scaling a product - are best shared in person. It’s tradecraft, handed down from mentor to mentee.

"Entrepreneurs are starving for quality mentors. Startup communities around the world have the hunger and potential to do big things, but lack the experience - we should not and can not recreate learnings from scratch. Even just bringing in one successful founder from a place like San Francisco to give a presentation and some 1-on-1 mentoring has made our community so much stronger."
Voja Lalich, Founder of StartLabs incubator in Belgrade, Serbia.

Nomadic Mentors only accepts entrepreneurs or key team members who’ve built something notable, people with a meaningful track record in technology, or similarly exceptional community leaders.

In many cases, to host a mentor you just have to cover the cost of transportation and lodging. In exchange, a mentor gets to travel the world, make new connections, learn through teaching, and have a meaningful impact on a developing ecosystem.

The mega Startup Weekend in Shenzhen, China brought in an experienced lean startup coach to mentor and judge the teams, ending with a keynote to national business and government leaders.

HOSTS

Are you an accelerator, university, community event (such as a Startup Weekend), investor, or NGO or governmental group focused on improving your ecosystem?

Access to quality mentorship is one of the single most important ingredients for a healthy, innovative, and entrepreneurial ecosystem. The cycle of helping, learning, iterating, and giving back is one of the keys to success for Silicon Valley.

Yet outside of the main hubs like San Francisco, it’s very hard to find the right kind of “been there, done that” mentors. In fact, many unqualified mentors do more harm than good, such as giving advice that contradicts modern lean startup principles.

It’s worth it to bring in high quality mentors in exchange for the cost of an airline ticket and hotel. If you're serious about bringing in quality mentors, let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll make the right connections. No cost, no obligation.
